Bus and Coach Hiking Program
Welcome to the Toronto Bruce Trail Club Bus Hike and Coach Trip page. Hike the Bruce Trail and explore Ontario’s national and provincial parks without a car. Join us for outdoor adventures all year round. In the winter enjoy cross-country ski and winter hiking/snowshoeing outings to some of Ontario’s best Nordic ski centres like Arrowhead Provincial Park and Highlands Nordic. Registration for bus hikes typically starts two weeks in advance of trip dates. For more information, click on the links in the list below and review trip details.
Upcoming trips are listed below (non-members welcome). For full details and to register click on the event title.
Trips depart from York Mills Subway Station (in front of 10 York Mills Rd) or Kipling Subway Station (the North Parking Lot).
Bus Hike means travel is on a school bus. Coach Trip means travel is on a luxury highway coach (climatized, ample leg room, overhead bins for stowing backpacks, washroom on board).

Saturday 12 July 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Pathways To Port Dover Lynn Valley Trail Easy hike along the Lynn Valley Rail Trail from Simcoe to Port Dover. Time to enjoy the Lake Erie beach town of Port Dover with perch and chips, the beach, shops, pubs, min golf, and other attractions. 12 km, dropout at 7 km. Registration for this hike is full.
Friday 18 July 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Ferris Provincial Park. Join us for a special Friday hike to celebrate Heathy Parks, Healthy People Day when Day Use admission to all Ontario Provincial Parks will be free. The easy hike on the park’s trail system will feature views of Ranney Falls and the gorge and the chance to expereince crossing the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge featured in Ontario Parks advertisements. The post hike stop in the town of Campelford will feature a photo op with the giant Twoonie coin and the businesses such as Dooher’s Bakery (they make awesome donuts!). Registration is open now! We need just a few more people to make this trip a go – so please register today!
Saturday 19 July 2025 7:30 Coach Trip: Silent Lake Provincial Park Hike the Silent Lake Loop trail at a brisk pace with time for swimming after or hike it at a moderate pace with no time for swimming. Also there will be an option for a shorter hike with lots of time at the beach or you can enjoy a self guided day on the water (canoe and kayak rentals available). Your choice. Registration for this coach trip is full.
Saturday 02 August 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Northern Rouge National Urban Park – Central Trail (Markham) Many of us are familar with the south part of the Rouge National Park but did you know the park extends right up to Stouffville? We will hike trails in the northern section. After the hike we will visit the sunflower fields of Markham (admission fee TBA). There will be a a refreshment stop in Main Street Unionville after the sunflower fields. For the convenience of those residing closer to the area there will be an additional pick-up at the Unionville GO Station. Registration opens 19th of July.
Saturday 09 August 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Elora Quarry Conservation Area/Elora & Fergus On this hike there will be the opportunity in the morning to either visit Elora Quarry (admission fee) or take a walking tour around the town of Elora with Tom Swales (you’re also free to enjoy the town on your own) . After Elora/the Quarry we will hike into the also charming town of Fergus. There will be a refreshnent stop in Fergus before returning to York Mills. Registration opens 26th of July.
Saturday 23 August 2025 8:00 School Bus Hike: Rama Powwow and the Ganaraska Trail Hike on two sections of the Ganaraska Trail with a visit to the Rama Powwow in between. The hike will be timed to be at the 1:00 PM Grand Entry. There will be a couple of hours to watch the festivities and visit the market stalls. The afternoon hike will go into Orillia and be followed with s stop for ice cream. Registration opens 10th of August.
Friday 19 September 2025 7:00 Coach Trip: Sept 19 to 21 Saugeen Peninsula Hiking Weekend Join Martina, Roland, George, and Tim for our annual Fall weekend on the beautiful Bruce (Saugeen) Peninsula. Moderate group about 12 km, fast group 15 km + each day. The Peninsula is unquestionably the most scenic part of the Bruce Trail but note that it is also the most challenging. Limited spots available so register soon!. Note you need to reserve your accomodations before registering for your seat the coach. See the full hike description for details.
Saturday 27 September 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Iroquoia In 8 (1/8) Our eight part E2E series of the Iroquoia Section begins with 4 bi-weekly hikes in the Fall Season and will continue in the Spring of 2026 with the final four hikes. Anyone is welcome to join any of the hikes regardless if working towards the E2E or not. The hikes will be about 15-16 km maximum and dropouts will be offered. This hike will begin in Grimsby and head towards Stoney Creek. These hikes are intended for those taking the bus from Kipling Station only. Sorry but we cannot accomodate drivers. Those who wish to complete the E2E should register early – the previous E2E series hikes were very popular. Registration opens 13th of September.
Saturday 11 October 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Iroquoia In 8 (2/8) Part two of our E2E will take us from Stoney Creek towards east Hamilton with a side trip to view the Devil’s Punchbowl. These hikes are intended for those taking the bus from Kipling Station only. Sorry but we cannot accomodate drivers. Those who wish to complete the E2E should register early – the previous E2E series hikes were very popular. Registration opens 27th of September.
Saturday 25 October 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Iroquoia E2E (3/8) Part three of our E2E will take us through Hamilton to Tiffany Falls near Ancaster. These hikes are intended for those taking the bus from Kipling Station only. Sorry but we cannot accomodate drivers. Those who wish to complete the E2E should register early – the previous E2E series hikes were very popular. Registration opens 11th of October.
Saturyday 08 November 2025 8:30 School Bus Hike: Iroquoia E2E (4/8). Part four of our E2E will take us through the beautiful Dundas Valley Conservation Area. Details of the hike to be posted later. These hikes are intended for those taking the bus from Kipling Station only. Sorry but we cannot accomodate drivers.
