Join the Toronto Bruce Trail Club’s Communications & PR / Education Team 

The Toronto Bruce Trail Club (TBTC) is the largest of the nine member clubs of the Bruce Trail Conservancy. We work tirelessly to build and maintain the Bruce Trail, steward our protected natural areas along the Trail, and offer more than 400 hikes each year on the Bruce Trail and beyond.

Volunteering with the TBTC is a rewarding experience. You will be helping to protect the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and you will engage with people in your community who share your interests.

Position: Communications & PR Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Communications & Director of PR/Education

Job Description:

The Communications and PR/Education teams are responsible for promoting and increasing public awareness of club activities such as conservation and hiking through channels such as web, e-newsletter, and social media, as well as through special events. Help contribute to a vibrant and engaging communications program within the Toronto club.

The TBTC is seeking an additional volunteer to join our communications team. We welcome a volunteer that can contribute ideas and strategic thinking to the group, complemented by a willingness to execute weekly content creation, and plan events to raise public awareness of activities within the TBTC.

Some of the candidate’s project work will include:

  • Liaise with team leaders to raise public awareness, increase membership, and engage diverse communities
  • Promote our bus and winter coach programs
  • Publicize and support special event | education program activities
  • Create content for our social media channels, and scheduling posts
  • Write stories for our monthly newsletter
  • Update web pages

Skills & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess experience in the following, however not all qualifications are a must! Applicants are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all qualifications – we are willing to train any enthusiastic and committed candidates!

  • Knowledge of the Bruce Trail and TBTC programs
  • Excellent communication skills (written, and interviewing)
  • Creating content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, including reels)
  • Digital design programs such as Canva or Adobe
  • Event planning skills
  • WordPress, and Mailchimp
