New to Hiking? Join our May Hiker Initiation Program

For those who are new to hiking and would like to know more about hiking the wonderfully scenic trails in southern Ontario, the Toronto Bruce Trail is offering a Hiker Initiation Program (HIP). The 2022 program has two parts: a webinar and an introductory nature hike.

Webinar – Monday May 2, 6:30 – 8 p.m.

We provide an overview of the ins-and-outs of hiking, presented by experienced hike leaders from the Toronto Club. Learn from Trail Club hike leaders about hiking safety and equipment, including boots, socks, clothing, backpacks, poles, water containers, and other hiking accessories. This session will be held via Zoom. To register click here

Introductory Hikes – Join TBTC hike leaders for:

Urban Hike – High Park Saturday May 7 – Workshop on hiking tips and basic survival skills followed by a 2-hour hike in Toronto’s beautiful High Park.

Car Hike – Scotsdale Farm – Saturday May 7 ­- Venture out by car for scenic 10 km  or shorter 5km loop hike on the Main Bruce Trail and Side Trails at Scotsdale Farm near Georgetown.

Car Hike – Scotsdale Farm – Saturday May 14 ­- Venture out by car for scenic 10-12 km loop hike on the Main Bruce Trail and Side Trails at Scotsdale Farm near Georgetown.

Bus Hike – Scotsdale Farm – Sunday May 15 – Venture out by bus and join us for a scenic 10-12 km look hike on the Main Bruce Trail and Side Trails at Scotsdale Farm near Georgetown. Meeting Location: York Mills Subway Station, meet bus at north side of York Mills Rd., east of Yonge St.

Bus Fare: $10.00 (Special Rate For H.I.P.) To be paid online by credit card with registration
