Trail Angel Program needs a volunteer coordinator

The Toronto Bruce Trail Club is excited to bring the “Trail Angel” program to our section of the Trail, and we’re on the hunt for a dedicated volunteer to lead this initiative!

Many Bruce Trail Clubs have successfully implemented this program, and we’re eager to follow suit in Toronto. Trail angels are a key group of volunteers who assist hikers along the Bruce Trail, offering rides to designated spots on the Toronto trail. Whether it’s a morning drop-off or an afternoon pick-up, being a trail angel is about making the hiker’s journey a bit easier. The task requires meeting hikers at a specified point, and transporting them to the beginning of their hike. Depending on your location, it might take 30 minutes to an hour to complete a request. Instead of a traditional payment, we encourage hikers to support the Toronto Bruce Trail Club through contributions.

As coordinator, you will maintain a list of willing drivers and be responsible for sending out requests to these drivers, with the first responder being paired with the hiker. We expect a surge in requests during spring, summer, and fall, while winter tends to be calmer. If this sparks your interest, we’d love to hear from you! The Toronto Bruce Trail Club’s volunteer coordinator is ready to support you in setting up the program. Join us and make a difference in our hiking community!
