Winter Coach Update – as of Jan. 31. 2022

UPDATE:

Due to the government imposed group size limits that will be in place between January 31 and February 21, we had no choice but to cancel the coach trips scheduled for February 5, 12 and 19. Out of an abundance of optimism we are keeping the February 26 and March 12 trips in the schedule. Hopefully the spread of Omicron will be under control by then and we will be able to run these trips. We may also add a March 5 trip to Arrowhead Provincial Park. Stay tuned and check the hiking calendar for updates.

Fire at the Auberge du Vieux Foyer
On January 4, a massive fire engulfed the Auberge du Vieux Foyer and sadly destroyed the main building. We enjoyed four unforgettable long weekends at the Auberge and many of us have fond memories of it and our trips to Val-David. The staff were always very kind to us, the food was excellent, and the fireplace lounge was warm and welcoming. I will never forget sitting in the hot tub beneath a full moon when the temperature was -30 C.  Our hearts go out to the staff and owners. They are committed to rebuilding and we hope to return in the future (maybe as early as 2023).

Some good news
From September 23 to 25, join me, Barbara Euler, George Lennon and Wayne Crockett for a weekend of guided hiking on the beautiful Saugeen Peninsula. We’ll be travelling in a luxury highway coach (departing from York Mills Station) and staying at Evergreen Resort in Red Bay. Registration will open in late June; full details will be in the hiking calendar soon. Also, on Saturday March 26 join me for a bus hike to Hockley Valley.
