Bus and Coach Hiking Program
Welcome to the Toronto Bruce Trail Club Bus Hike and Coach Trip page. Hike the Bruce Trail and explore Ontario’s national and provincial parks without a car. Join us for outdoor adventures all year round. In the winter enjoy cross-country ski and winter hiking/snowshoeing outings to some of Ontario’s best Nordic ski centres like Arrowhead Provincial Park and Highlands Nordic. Registration for bus hikes typically starts two weeks in advance of trip dates. For more information, click on the links in the list below and review trip details.
Upcoming trips are listed below (non-members welcome). For full details and to register click on the event title.
Trips depart from York Mills Subway Station (in front of 10 York Mills Rd) or Kipling Subway Station (the North Parking Lot).
Bus Hike means travel is on a school bus. Coach Trip means travel is on a luxury highway coach (climatized, ample leg room, overhead bins for stowing backpacks, washroom on board).

School Bus Hike: Iroquoia E2E #8/8 Crawford Lake/Kelso
Final part of our Iroquoia E2E series, anyone welcome regardless of doing the E2E. There will be a shorter option for hikers who prefer a 12 km hike. Refreshment stop in Milton after the hike. A late return is expected.

School Bus Hike: “Double Day”: hike and work party
More than a hike, there will be half a day of identifying, learning, and photographing the flor and fauna combined with a half day of joining the Biodiversity Team in their work by helping pull garlic mustard. This is a chance for members in Toronto without a car to give back by helping in the Biodiversity Team’s work.

School Bus Hike: Hockley Valley
Join us for an awesome hike with great views and fun hills. We will split into two groups and hike north from Hockley Valley Rd to Mono Centre. The moderate group will hike about 13 km and the fast about 18 km.
Refreshments at Sonnen Hill (www.sonnenhill.com). Sit back, relax, and socialize with your hiking friends while you sip a fresh, cold, local brew (or non-alcoholic beverage) in their beautiful beer garden. Or walk up to their lookout for more great views (a 20 minute loop).

Departure 2: HWY 400 & Major Mac Park and Ride at 8:50 AM

Coach Trip: Petroglyphs Provincial Park
A visit to Petroglyphs Provincial Park and the largest known concentration of Indigenous rock carvings (petroglyphs) in Canada, depicting turtles, snakes, birds, humans and more; as well as a stop at the Learning Place Visitor Centre to discover the traditions of the Ojibway (Nishnaabe) people. School Bus Hike: Awenda Provincial Park and Sainte-Marie among the Hurons/Wye Marsh
Join us on this trip to beautiful Awenda Provincial Park, on the shores of Georgian Bay, where we’ll enjoy a lovely circular route, the Bluff Trail, and take a detour down the staircase to the beach for lunch. Afterwards, we’ll make the short drive to Highway 12, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit either St Marie Among The Hurons or Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre.

School Bus Trip: Hike in Pretty River, Swim in Thornbury
Join us for a fun and challenging hike through Nottawasaga Lookout Provincial Nature Reserve and Pretty River Valley Provincial Park. The moderate group will do about 13 km at a pace of approximately 3 km/hr. The fast group will hike 16 to 18 km at a 4 km/hr pace (including on hills). Afterwards cool off with a swim, an ice cream, or a cold beer in Little River Beach Park in downtown Thornbury.

School Bus Hike: Long Sault Conservation Area
oin us for an 11 km hike in Long Sault Conservation Area on the Barred Owl, Eastern Bluebird, Wild Turkey, and Oak Ridges Moraine Trails. Once part of the Agreement Forest program operated by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Conservation area includes close to 400 hectares of matures forest, plantation, wetland, and Meadow. The trails range from gently sloping and straight to technical rolling and quickly turning. After our hike we will drive to Port Perry on Lake Scugog for free time to enjoy the park, the historic main street, cafes, or the Old Flame craft brewery. Don’t miss Hank’s Pastries, a bakery with a 100+ year tradition known for their specialty donuts and “big as your face” apple fritters.

School Bus Hike: Pathways To Port Dover Lynn Valley Trail
Join us for a scenic and easy paced walk, a regular summer favorite along the trails running through Norfolk County from downtown Simcoe ending at historic Port Dover. The route is primarily on rail trails so is ideal for those who favor a flatter and easier route in the summer heat. Dropout at 8km. We will stop at the Simcoe Recreation Centre before the hike to use the facilities. After the hike there will be the opportunity to indulge in the local perch fish and chips or hang out at the beach which together make Port Dover famous. Long Distance Bus Fare applies and there will be a late return (after 6:00 Pm)

School Bus Hike: Winery Tour and Tasting. Swayze Falls-Short Hills PP-Rim of Africa Friendship Trail to NOTL Winery.
Join us on a moderate (H4H-H4F) pace hike starting from Swayze Falls area passing thru Short Hills Provincial Park and the Rim of Africa Bruce Trail Friendship Trail. Day hike essentials to bring; snack/lunch, hydration fuel, sunscreen, full brim hat for sun protection and insect repellent in the event our friendly mosquitoes welcome us. Hiking shoe/boot and poles are highly recommended. From the finish of our hike the bus will take us to Pillitteri Estate Winery (official wine supplier of Canada’s Olympic Team) where we’ll experience and enjoy a private structured wine tasting and tour by one or more of their knowledgeable and friendly staff. The cost of tasting and tour experience is $20.00 includes tax and gratuity per person with four wines selected by the host. Wine tasting and tour fee will be paid upon signing and payable via Interac e-Transfer to ross.estrella@rogers.com. There’s no refund on wine tasting and tour fee as the amount will be paid days in advance to secure the function. You may purchase a bottle of your favorite bubbly and souvenirs. If interested in joining this hike please register early (by June 22nd) so the number of people expected in our group can be provided to the winery a week in advance.

Coach Trip: Silent Lake Provincial Park
Join us for a fun summer day at beautiful Silent Lake Provincial Park in the heart of the Kawarthas. Choose between a fast hike and swim, a moderate hike but with no time for swimming, a short hike with lots of time for swimming and relaxing, or a self guided day on the water. Note all the hikes have scenic views of the lake but traverse some challenging rocky terrain.

Coach Trip: Saugeen Peninsula
Join our annual hiking weekend on the beautiful Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula. We promise three days of awesome adventures on the Bruce Trail and two evenings with gorgeous sunsets at Evergreen Resort. We will offer two hikes each day – a moderate (about 12 km) and a fast (15 to 18 km) and you will be treated to scenic lunch spots, cool dolostone cliffs, neat crevasses, beautiful shale beaches, and lots of awesome views of Georgian Bay. Departures from Toronto (York Mills station) and Vaughan (HWY 400 and Major Mac).
