Now Recruiting: Two Volunteers for Land Management Committee

The Toronto Bruce Trail Club is seeking two new members for our Land Management Committee.

The ideal candidates:

  • Are available to meet monthly in-person in Georgetown (virtually during the winter months)
  • Have access to a vehicle as meeting on the trail, meeting in-person, and site trail work are critical for these roles
  • Possess a membership with the Toronto Bruce Trail Club, have some club experience, and are willing to sign a BTC confidentiality agreement.

We are fully committed to support your training and transition.

Roles

Land Management Relations (One or two roles available)

Our current Landowner Relations Director Pete Pritchard is looking for ‘local to the trail’ volunteers to help with landowner relations.

The Landowner Relations Director is responsible for maintaining good relations with landowners and responsible for maintaining the Toronto Club’s landowner inventory.

This is the day-to-day relationship building with local landowners both on and adjacent to the Toronto Section of the Bruce Trail and any existing ‘handshake agreements’. They also handle landowner related matters, dogs, hikers, use of trail, parking, etc. As part of our board succession plan – Pete wants to share this role with other TBTC Member Volunteers.

We are seeking one or two ambassadors to train with and shadow Pete. They will also participate in the Land Management Committee. Pete would be happy to train one or two people for this role.

Land Management Committee Coordinator (One role available)

This role keeps the Land Management Committee organized. They work across the Toronto Club, the Bruce Trail Conservancy and the Land Management Trail Committee to:

  • Record and keep General Records Management for all Toronto trail related matters.
  • Act as secretary for the Land Management Committee – works with the Chair Neal Stein for meeting planning, agenda and minutes.
  • Support volunteering requests
  • Create GIS Map changes with the BTC
  • Share trail changes with our communications team

The right candidate must like working with systems & people. They also must be familiar with Trail Management – experience as a trail captain, land steward or trail work parties is really important. While a local resident to the trail is not mandatory – being able to get to the trail and attend in person meetings is critical.

APPLY: If either of these roles interest you please reach out to volunteer@torontobrucetrailclub.org to introduce yourself.

We promise learning, teamwork and fun!
